Arizona Serve AmeriCorps Program

Through service and volunteerism, Arizona Serve AmeriCorps Program connects passionate people to opportunities to make a difference in their community, working with organizations with diverse missions and programs encouraging people to become engaged in the fight against poverty. Members are able to do groundbreaking and influential work in these organizations, participating in a variety of activities from volunteer management, to grant writing, and website development. Current Open Positions:

YAVAPAI BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS: Outreach and Activity Coordinator
900 Hour Position (part-time)
Service Location: Prescott, AZ
Service Dates: September 1, 2016 – August 31, 2017

Project Areas and Activities

A) Develop Knowledge of Agency and Programs.
B) Become an ambassador for YBBBS and seek/perform outreach for children.
C) Partner with businesses and community groups to create activities for YBBBS.
D) Lead waiting Little and match activities and promote “Big for a Day” events.
E) Create sustainability in daily work through documentation and updating YBBBS materials.

AmeriCorps State Member Benefits (Part-time):

  • Living Allowance – $6,265 for year of service
  • $2,865.00 education award upon completion of service
  • Student loan deferment and reimbursement of accrued interest on eligible student loans
  • Certificate in Civic Leadership and Service through Prescott College
  • Team support and coaching

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 21 years old, no upper age limit, older applicants are encouraged to apply
    Some College
  • Work well under deadlines and as a member of a team
  • Comfortable working with adults and children with a wide range of issues, ethnicities, cultures, and economic status
  • Have solid computer skills; knowledge of graphic design would be beneficial
  • Time management skills, detail-oriented, and problem solving abilities
  • Can consistently suspend both cynicism and judgment
  • Enjoy talking to (and meeting with) new people
  • Good public speaking skills
  • Able to develop partnerships and promote/publicize project ideas
  • Professionally guide, monitor and support children and volunteers – good listening skills
  • Flexibility – able to work evenings/weekends
  • Good writing skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Requires weekend work and occasional evenings

WEST YAVAPAI GUIDANCE CLINIC FOUNDATION: Senior Peer Prevention Program Volunteer Liaison
900 Hour Position (part-time)
Service Location: Prescott, AZ
Service Dates: September 1, 2016 – August 31, 2017

C) Peer Support

  • Some College or relevant experience
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Some experience working with or coordinating volunteers
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Creative in communicating in a variety of formats.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Ability to identify and collaborate on methods of program sustainability
  • Self-starting and able to work independently, as well as ask team members for assistance as needed
  • Ability to be flexible and work well in a variety of situations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Consistent and reliable access to a vehicle required

YAVAPAI COUNTY EDUCATION SERVICE AGENCY: Early Literacy Initiative Coordinator
Service Location: Prescott, AZ

AmeriCorps VISTA Member Benefits (Full-time)

  • Living Allowance – $11,676 for year of service
  • Housing Subsidy – $100 per month
  • Choice of a $5,730 education award OR a $1,500 cash stipend upon completion of service
  • Limited Health Care Benefits
  • Relocation allowance (if relocating more than 50 miles to serve)
  • Student loan deferment and reimbursement of accrued interest on eligible student loans

Minimum Requirements

  • College Degree required or equivalent experience
  • 18 years or older, no upper age limit. All ages are welcome and encouraged to apply
  • Possess excellent organization skills;be attentive to details
  • Possess strong communication skills (writing for publication, website, social medial, oral)
  • Possess the ability to research, assimilate information, and prepare proposals
  • Be systems oriented;have the ability to see the big picture
  • Be able to use computers and software programs
  • Experience with marketing, public relations, social media skills
  • Be able to provide transportation to sites
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate on many projects representing PUSD
  • Ability to work independently, be selfdirectd and take directions to advance project set by administrators
  • Get along well with others
    Possess enthusiasm and passion for serving and meeting needs of students in an academic organization
    Consistent and reliable access to a vehicle required
